An effort of the art and craft men of the Troodos region for the preservation of our cultural heritage.
We started with traditional arts that the residents of this area managed to develop by utilizing both the earth and the thread, to make into two unique traditional arts that left mark through the passage of time.
The whole effort is made in collaboration with the Local Authorities and the Cultural Services of the Ministry of Education and the Cyprus Arts and Crafts Center of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Within the frame work of conserving and promoting our cultural heritage, the Folk Culture Study Center was established in Omodos in collaboration with the Church Committee of the Holy Cross Monastery and the Omodos Community Council.
Its aim is the study and organizing , with the contribution of specialists, of seminars, exhibitions and events that will set off the greatness of the cultural heritage of our area’s communities.
The center is housed in the Holy Cross Monastery in Omodos, in four restored rooms, two of them use for seminars and exhibitions and the other two for the library and for our office.
It is equipped with all the necessary technical equipment for the organizing seminars. As the same time, the organization of a library has started, dedicated to our cultural heritage.
